Dental Implants

Implants are titanium screws placed in the jawbone for the treatment of missing teeth. They are applied to individuals aged 18 and over whose jaw and bones are fully developed. The advantage of implants over other treatments is that they do not damage, or require the cutting of, adjacent teeth during the treatment process.

In the operation, which begins with the patient being lightly anesthetized, the jaw and the remaining teeth are first measured. There are two options for the placement of dental implants. A single stage operation can be performed in which a temporary cap is attached after the implant has been positioned. Alternatively, a two-stage operation can be performed in which the placed implant is subsequently covered with gingiva. A temporary bridge is used in both options.
